Since its founding in 1969, Continental has provided marine construction, initially focusing on material handling facilities in the Mississippi and Ohio River basins. Through the years, Continental has expanded its scope of marine construction services - now encompassing dock construction, wharves, mooring structures, etc. - to both public and private entities. We continue to serve the interior river basins throughout most of the continental United States and now include both Gulf and Atlantic coasts as well as the Caribbean.

Cenex Harvest States | Belle Chasse, Louisiana
1 | Grain Storage Handling Facility

Continental was given a 16-day window to install and have these pivoting and extending ship loading arms operational for Harvest States Grain. Several months of pre-planning and preparation went into the successful completion of this retrofit. The new ship loader arms were pre-assembled with all systems as complete as possible (electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics) at our Belle Chasse yard. They were loaded onto barges and moved to the staging area, awaiting installation. Once the plant outage had begun, troops dis-mantled the existing arms and installed the new. This effort is easily described, but difficult to complete. We were successful in this endeavor due to our personnel performing their typical excellent job.
